ABOUT ME
Hello there. Thanks for dropping by. I suppose I should wow you with some witty comment, perhaps drop a filtered photo of me looking great – but in case you know me in real life, it’d be all a big fat lie.
What I will tell you is that I bloody love writing. I’ve written for stage, radio, screen and pinch pinch can say that I’m a published playwright. It’s hard work, but what on earth would I do if I didn’t have these stories to tell.
I’ve done some pretty terrific stuff over the years. In 2017/18 I managed to blag a place on the Liverpool Everyman Theatre Playwright Programme. Loved every second of it. An amazing opportunity. Learnt loads, and read even more.
Since July 2017 I’ve been given freelance script reader work for a top independent production company. Knew all those years hanging out in Clayton Green Library would pay off. Not only do I read scripts, but also novels, manuscripts – in fact anything that gets sent in and I read it. Top job.
I have a Masters Degree in Television and Radio Scriptwriting from the University of Salford – class of 2014. So proud of that achievement. Changed my life. God bless Salford Uni. I have much to owe that brilliant place.
Whilst studying for her MA, I got my first professional broadcasting credit on BBC Radio 4 Extra satirical show Newsjack. Got paid nearly twenty quid for that. All adds up.
I also co-created and co-wrote Manchester’s community radio station ALL FM 96.9’s ACE funded soap opera ‘Station Road’ which gave me real experience of creating convincing characters, storylines with warmth and northern humour which appeals to a vast mainstream audience. I did that for two years, and some day I’d love to do it again – if someone would fund me to do it.
My debut stage play Bleeding with Mother was part of the Greater Manchester Fringe Festival 2017, it got runner up in the New Writing Award and shortlisted for Best Drama. Not bad. Not bad at all.
I’ve done a lot and I’ve learnt so much along the way. Thanks for reading until the end.
