Inspired by my audio play of the same name, Black Dog follows two stories: Frankie has given up on life and when she find herself staring at the ground from the top of the Arndale Centre Car Park, an unlikely guardian angel in the guise of Claudia comes to her rescue. Whilst Frankie decides whether to end it all her loyal, four-legged best friend Elsa watches from afar not understanding why her owner is trying to leave her.

Black Dog the stage version mixes drama with black comedy. The short stage piece was produced and performed on the 20th February 2020 at The King’s Arms in Salford. It was part of an evening of new work to raise awareness for Mind charity as part of Time to Talk Day.

Frank was played by Janelle Thompson, Claudia played by Lynne Whittaker , and Elsa the dog was hilariously portrayed by Mick Cooper. Black Dog was directed by Sarah Doyle.
